Music Library Relaunch

On 5 October 2023, we celebrated the relaunch of the Music Library! 🎸📖 We also celebrated a remarkable milestone—the Music Library's 40th anniversary! The Music Library has come a long way since its inception in 1982, evolving from two rooms in the Main Building to its current location on the top floor of Run Run Shaw Tower. For four decades, it has been a vital hub, fostering a rich environment for learning and musical exploration. 🎶 ✨

The event was officiated by Professor Ian Holiday, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning). Professor Daniel Chua, the Chair Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Music, Professor David Promfret, Dean of Arts Faculty, Professor Rosie Young, an Emeritus Professor and an Honorary Clinical Professor and former HKU Foundation Chairman, and CIO and University Librarian Flora Ng were also in attendance. Thank you all!

We'd also like to extend a big thank you to the HKU Foundation for their 2 million dollar donation. Your support has helped us make this ambitious vision a reality! 🙏 💫

In addition, the Music Library Relaunch opening ceremony featured a brilliant piano solo by our very own HKU student, Mr. Kenneth Ma, BEcon&Fin and BA in Music​. 🎹🤩

With this relaunch, the Music Library provide an accessible and inviting space for learning, research, and artistic exploration. The increased seating capacity, expanded hours, and diverse learning environments will cater to the varied needs of our vibrant HKU community! 📚 🚀
